TongFang Imini S1 Mini-Note with VIA Nano Processor
by atticus ~ June 9, 2008
It looks like that Chinese manufacturer Tsinghua TongFang might be first to release a Mini-Note with VIA Nano processor. Presented at Computex 08, the TongFang Imini S1 Mini-Note sported a 1.2GHz VIA Nano processor. The Mini-Note also comes with the VIA VX700 chipset, 512MB of RAM and an 80GB traditional hard-drive.

It’s disappointing that Tsinghua TongFang is not using the newer VIA VX800 chipset, as found in VIA OpenBook reference design. Interestingly, the TongFang Imini S1 Mini-Note on display has an OpenBook wallpaper. Perhaps they don’t see why they should adopt the OpenBook design?

It’s on sale in China now - but all the ones I’ve seen have a C7 CPU rather than the nano.
