Sylvania g Netbook to Feature Improved gOS
by atticus ~ July 9, 2008

At first glance, the photo above appears to be the Everex CloudBook CE1200V UMPC. But take a closer look and you will noticed the Slyvania logo. Look even more closer and you will be pleasantly surpised that touchpad is positioned below the keyboard, unlike the Everex Cloudbook CE1200V which has its touchpad positioned above the keyboard.
Called the Sylvania g Netbook, the alphabet g of course stands for gOS, the operating system that the mini laptop is featuring. However, the Sylvania Netbook is running a different version of the gOS that appears in Everex CloudBook CE1200V. According to Sylvania website, it is running gOS Escape Pod 2.9M. From users reviews, the wifi problem that has bugged the CloudBook CE1200V appears to have gone for good.
The full specifications of Sylvania g Netbook is similar to the VIA NanoBook reference design. Here’s the specifications:

I heard Everex decided to dump the 7 inch Cloudbook to their OEMs so they could concentrate on the larger versions and differet windows versions. It will be interesting to see how the market reacts.

So you recognized my alias. :)
I think 7 inch Cloudbook is outdated. 8.9″ seems to be the preferred size.

You’re right on both counts! 8.9″ And above should be the sweet spot. There are so many players now I wonder who will come out ahead…

Great tips to follow. Being professional and showing them there’s more to come I think are the most important. You need to give them a great article, that makes them want to come back. And then make sure you don’t disappoint.

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.
