Sony Planning for VIA OpenBook Laptops?

Quanta Computer, a major contract manufacturer of some of the world’s biggest laptop brands, was showing a prototype of the VIA OpenBook at WiMax Expo, an exhibition which was held alongside Computex 2008. Opening the system properties of the laptop not only revealed the 1.6GHz C7-M processor and 1 Gb RAM but also Sony’s name as the manufacturer.

Quanta reported that the laptop will begin shipping during the third quarter of 2008. Maybe we will get to see an affordable Sony UMPC finally.
