Sylvania g Netbook to Feature Improved gOS

by atticus ~ July 9, 2008

At first glance, the photo above appears to be the Everex CloudBook CE1200V UMPC. But take a closer look and you will noticed the Slyvania logo. Look even more closer and you will be pleasantly surpised that touchpad is positioned below the keyboard, unlike the Everex Cloudbook CE1200V which has its touchpad positioned above the keyboard.

Called the Sylvania g Netbook, the alphabet g of course stands for gOS, the operating system that the mini laptop is featuring. However, the Sylvania Netbook is running a different version of the gOS that appears in Everex CloudBook CE1200V. According to Sylvania website, it is running gOS Escape Pod 2.9M. The full specifications of Sylvania g Netbook is similar to the VIA NanoBook reference design. Here’s the specifications:

Besides DreamBook Light CE2A, Pioneer Australia is also releasing the DreamBook Light M91 which is based on the Intel Calistoga 945GSE + ICH7M chipset and runs the Intel Atom processor. M91 does not seem to be based on FIC CW0A1 design. DreamBook Light M91 comes with an 8.9″ touch screen with swivelling capability. It’s heavier at 1.2kg, probably due to the 2.5″ HDD choice.

According to Pioneer Australia’s website, DreamBook Light M91 is expected to be available in July 2008. The RRP is AU$899 (US$866). Customizing options for the UMPC is available here.
