The Everex CloudBook CE1210J is the second CloudBook model to appear in Japan. Similar to the earlier CE1200J, the new UMPC comes with Microsoft Windows XP operating system. The differences are that CE1210J comes with an integrated webcam instead of the modular version found in the older CE1200J. The touchpad has also moved to a position above the keyboard. In a way, the CloudBook CE1210J is more similar to the U.S CloudBook CE1201V than the Japanese CloudBook CE1200J. Confused with the models? Check out the list of NanoBooks for a quick comparison.

Since I last reported on the free Elonex Webbook, reviews on the mini laptop have surfaced on the internet. How does the Elonex Webbook fare?
At PC Advisor, it scored 3 out of 5.
The Elonex Webbook is a mini laptop being promoted exclusively by The Carphone Warehouse – for ‘free’ with a new two-year Orange broadband account, or separately for £249 with XP and £219 with Ubuntu.
The Elonex Webbook is pretty much the cheapest mini laptop around, and feels it. You get good storage capacity, a relatively clear and bright matt screen and a usable keyboard.
At Pocket-lint, it scored 8 out of 10, which is the same score it gave to Asus Eee PC 901.
So how does it fair against other netbook offerings on the market? The 10.2-inch screen will match the Asus 1000 and MSI Wind for its quality, and the keyboard was easy to use with.
The trackpad, although not suffering the same annoying fate as the HP Mini-Note, was a bit on the flaky side to use and the annoyance of not being able to easily turn the tap click feature off for us made it almost unusable (I seem to flex my finger too much).
However (and here is the interesting proposition) if you’re willing to sign a 24- month contract at £25 a month with Orange, you get it for free. If that’s not appealing enough you can buy it without contract for £249.99 making it £30 cheaper than the Advent 4211, although you will be getting less memory.
It might not be the prettiest looking netbook on the market, but if you are thinking of getting a mobile broadband card from Orange in the near future upgrading the account to get one of these for free my be something you should seriously consider doing.
The Elonex Webbook at a glance.

Considering the Sylvania g Netbook MESO preorder? Why not take a look at this review by LaptopMag first before deciding?
LaptopMag wasn’t too impressed with the new Netbook from Sylvania and rated it 2.5/5. Here’s an excerpt of their findings:
Pros
* Sleek, simple Linux OS
* Available in multiple colors
* Small footprint
* Decent battery life
Cons
* Off-putting design
* Cramped keyboard with missing right Shift key
* Slow boot time
The $399 Sylvania g Netbook Meso has some features we like: Its Atom processor offers strong performance with decent battery life, and its Ubuntu Netbook Remix OS is the best iteration of Linux we’ve seen in a mini-notebook. However, Sylvania should have paid more attention to its design. In the realm of 8.9-inch mini-notebooks we continue to prefer the Acer Aspire one. Although you’ll need to fork over an extra $129 to get the six-cell battery and you get only 8GB of storage space in the Linux version, we prefer Acer’s mini-notebook because of its sleeker build, roomier keyboard, and its slightly cheaper $379 price.
