As reported in InfoWorld, Everex may use Intel’s Diamondville processor in its new line of Cloudbook ultraportables. Plans to use the Intel processor are still “very tentative” and Everex will continue to use Via Technologies processors for now, according to Paul Kim, director of marketing at Everex.

Besides updating the processor, the following might be included in the refreshed Cloudbooks:

  • Hard disk drives up to 120 Gb
  • 8.9 inch LCD screens
  • Improved touchpads under the keyboard
  • Solid-state flash drives
  • gOS with better power management features, wireless configurations and window sizing

In addition, Everex is planning to release Cloudbooks with touch screen at $499 by the end of this year. To achieve this, they are hoping to enlist the help of the open source community to develop touch screen applications for the new Cloudbooks. About two thousand of these touchscreen Cloudbooks are planned to be sold to these developers by end of March.
