by atticus ~ February 19, 2008

Over the past few days, LaptopMag has been faithfully updating their findings on Everex Cloudbook CE1200V.

1. Blogging From the CloudBook
With a resolution of 800×480, blogging using the Cloudbook is no different from other ultra portables - lots of scrolling.

2. Don’t Believe the Skype
An error message was received when trying to install Ubuntu version of Skype.

3. CloudBook’s gOS Dock-Blocked my Pointer
Mouse pointer was blocked by gOS dock and may cause the user to click a dock icon by accident.

4. CloudBook Keyboard is Hot Stuff
Cloudbook got uncomfortably hot after 5 hours of usage.

5. Watching CNN Videos on CloudBook: Good Quality, Long Wait
Compared to Asus EeePC, Everex Cloudbook took a tad too long to load CNN videos.

6. Full Screen Firefox: CloudBook vs. Eee PC
Asus EeePC displayed a few extra lines of pixels compared to Everex Cloudbook. It looks like Asus has optimized Firefox theme to provide more real estate to the screen.

7. CloudBook Takes Almost 3 Minutes to Boot
Cloudbook took a long time to boot. A video showing the boot up has been uploaded to youtube.

8. Dude, Where’s My Internet?
Internet was disconnected for no apparent reason.

9. CloudBook Hibernation Mode: Slow and Error-Prone
Booting up from Hiberation took almost two minutes and not before receiving a few errors. Check out the video at youtube.

10. Waiting for CloudBook Apps to Load is Hardest Part
Add/Remove tool took almost 1.5 minute to load. Watch the video at youtube. Loading Firefox and Open office are comparatively faster in Asus EeePC.

I will be updating any new entries by LaptopMag on Everex Cloudbook CE1200V in this post instead of creating a separate entry for each of them. So check back once in a while!

The test is basically OS vs. OS. It would have been great if they loaded the same OS and then reviewed the two together. Don’t know about you buy XP PRO or WinFLP will be the first thing I load….

I hope LaptopMag will run WinXP and perform a test. I, too, suspect that it has more to do with the OS than the hardware.
