FIC Introduces CE2A1 and CW0A1
by atticus ~ June 10, 2008
First International Computer (FIC) unveiled its latest 8.9-inch UMPCs, the CE2A1 and CW0A1, during Computex 08. Appearing to be the refreshed models of the MeePC line and the VIA Nanobooks, the newest mini laptops comes with 8.9-inch WVGA panel, centrally-located touchpad, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, 802.11b/g wireless LAN, 4-cell Lithium-Ion battery (6-cell optional) and a 1.8-inch hard disk drive with up to 160GB of internal storage.
The differences between CE2A1 and CW0A1 are that the former features a 1.2GHz VIA C7-M ULV processor with VIA VX800 chipset and can support Windows Vista Basic, Windows XP Home Edition and Linux operating systems. On the other hand, CW0A1 uses a 1600MHz Intel Atom N270 processor with Intel 945GSE chipset and can run either Windows XP Home Edition or Linux. CW0A1 also appears to have a shorter quoted battery life for the same Lithium-Ion battery as the CE2A1. Perhaps the Intel platform is more power hungry than the VIA solution.
Despite having a larger screen, the new UMPCs from FIC have almost the same physical dimensions as existing VIA Nanobooks.

Moving and powerful! Youve certainly got a way of reaching people that I havent seen very often. If most people wrote about this subject with the eloquence that you just did, Im sure people would do much more than just read, theyd act. Great stuff here. Please keep it up.
