Everex Cloudbook CE1200V Mini Review

by atticus ~ February 16, 2008

LaptopMag has posted a mini review on Everex Cloudbook.

This is what they like about Everex Cloudbook CE1200V:

  • Desktop is clean and has easy-to-read icons
  • Pretty speedy Web surfing
  • SD Card slot automatically recognized memory card
  • OpenOffice included
  • DVI port worked fine
  • Wireless Logitech mouse was instantly recognized

Connecting Cloudbook to external monitor over DVI

This is what they do not like about Everex Cloudbook CE1200V:

  • The keyboard is cramped
  • The touchpad is laughably tiny
  • Slow boot up time (1min 30s)
  • Initial difficulty connecting to Wi-Fi network
  • Many windows extend below the desktop
  • Screen occasionally looks like it’s about to freeze or crash
  • Not able to get the TokBox application to work for video chats
  • No option to choose a higher resolution when connecting the Cloudbook to an external monitor

While it looks like Everex Cloudbook is still a little rough around the edges, LaptopMag will not be passing their final verdict until they have adequate time to play with the unit over the weekend.

Of course, they have to solve their blue screen problem before they can continue with their testing.

Update: LaptopMag has solved their blue screen problem.

I am considering picking up. Any idea on how it compares to the ASUS Eee PC?
