Cloudbook CE1200V Recovery ISO for gOS Released

by atticus ~ April 1, 2008

Good news for those who have been playing around their gOS and need to reinstall the operating system. Everex has put up the Cloudbook CE1200V’s gOS recovery ISO on its download page. Here’s some advice from Everex:

Use to reinstall the original gOS software to the CloudBook.  All original data stored on unit will be deleted.  Use with caution.  Image must be installed from external DVD drive (not supplied).  For proper functionality install only on the original factory hard disk drive partition.

After downloading the 1.0Gb file, do verify it against the MD5 checksum.

    Have you tried it?

After going through the install routine it ends telling you to shutdown the Cloudbook, disconnect the external
CD/DVD drive and reboot…. What do you get after all this?

    Wow, so helpful Everex! NOT!

To be honest after a couple of months of ownership I think the Cloudbook CE1200V is a piece of junk! It’s not the
OS’s fault, I’ve been a happy Linux user for years. It’s the fact that nothing is ready. The 1.2Ghz processor runs
at 600mhz with no way to fix it w/o being a highly experienced user or developer.

    *Note on the “recovery” ISO
The drivers for the chipset, networking, webcam, etc… are in a folder called /winXP…. WTF?

Save yourself the headache and buy a Asus Eee, or an Acer Aspire One (has 120GB HD)
