I’m sorry to hear all those bad experiences that most astone users have experienced. My husband bought his astone unit last nov2008. It worked smoothly for several months but around it’s 9th month, it went down. So we had it fixed(it was still in it’s warranty period) then it worked again. After a few weeks, lines appeared on its screen so we had it fixed again. When we got it back, just a few days it broke down again. My husband was infuriated so I called the PC shop where we bought it and I asked for a refund. At first they just wanted to fix it AGAIN. I got irritated so I asked for the distributor’s number and there I talked to their technical support people. They offered to fix it but I stood firm to ask for the refund. They offered to give me a new unit but then I threatened them that we’d report them(the distributor and the pc shop) to the DTI. A few days after I received a call that they would give the refund I was asking for. We got the full amount we paid for.
To everyone who’s experiencing problems with their astone units, and are still under the warranty period, I STRONGLY SUGGEST that you ask for a refund. Even if you have it fixed, the problems will not cease. Even the staff from the pc shop admitted that a lot of their clients have the same bad experiences.

We bought last February 11, 2009 from Permanent Computer Corner with office address at V-346 3/F V. Mall Shopping Center, Greenhills, San Juan, Metro Manila.Astone UMPC with a 7 days outright replacement and 12 months warranty on parts and services.Unfortunately, after using the Astone UMPC for a month, the laptop that I have bought together with 10 of my officemates are not functioning well and us of this date more laptops have been returned to Permanent Computer Corner last week. I have returned my laptop 3 times at PC Corner and until now it is still for repair. No actions have been done..

syah, try taking the power and the mains adapter off it, then put them back and try to boot, if fails and still only black screen, means hardware problem like cpu or similar, what your getting now might be failed suspend mode

I bought my Astone UMPC a year ago. I have some problems with it like having lines on the screen, application will stop running and it will go to a blue screen, programs running slow and pc which automatically shut off. It has been this way since I had this computer, but honestly I like this pc much. It’s very portable and at the same time I like it’s touch screen feature. I hope somebody can post any resolution about it.

Hello, I think your website might be having browser compatibility issues. When I look at your blog site in Firefox, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, wonderful blog!

Hi there! I have a Astone UMPC for over 2 years. For those who do work on their computer, I would suggest you buy a new notebook entirely. Period. If you are stuck with the Astone UMPC and wanted more out of it, I would suggest that you read up more about the UMPC. Many of the problems you have with No Screen, Wifi not working etc are just ‘function keys’ not pressed or pressed to deactivate those functions. One thing that I found out after opening up my UMPC is that the CPU Fan works occasionally therefore my machine overheated and and it gave me blue screen with error. Also another thing you should take note is the conducting grease/gel dried up after 1 or 2 years ( I do not know what type they used ) but try to get any from your computer repair persons will work. After I did that I have my machine back working ok. The fan need changing… later when I get my money. :D Also use the Win XP SP3 OS. It is quite problem free. I have not successfully installed Win 7 on this machine, maybe someone has. Hope that you can get your machine to work. 7″ screen is a burden to the eyes! Always use a monitor or in my case I use a projector. :D

I have an Astone UMPC and the touchpad stopped working. I searched for astone umpc touchpad driver but cannot find one, so i reinstalled winxp but to no avail. The system can not even recognize its presence despite installation of a synaptics driver.
what seemed to be the problem with my touchpad?
or where can i buy a touchpad replacement assembly for ASTONE UMPC?
This UMPC can only accept 1GB of memory. I installed a 2GB DDR2 and only 1GB was read and recognized by the system bios.
Thank you for any assistance.
